Spring is in the air, chocolate eggs are everywhere, and school is out - it must be Easter! While it's important to enjoy the holidays, the Easter break also presents a golden opportunity to make meaningful progress on 11+ preparation. At ForJo Brilliant Minds, we know that balance is key: rest, recharge, and keep those brilliant minds active!
Here are some smart (and fun!) ways to stay on top of 11+ prep over the Easter holidays:
1. Create a Realistic Study Plan
No one wants to spend the whole holiday with their head in a book - but a little planning goes a long way. Aim for short, focused sessions (30–45 minutes) in the morning, when your child is most alert. Keep afternoons free for play, outings, or relaxation.
Tip: A simple weekly planner with colour-coded subjects can help structure the days without feeling overwhelming.
2. Mix Learning with Easter Fun
Who says revision has to be boring? Get creative with themed activities:
Easter Egg Hunt with a Twist – Hide questions inside plastic eggs. Correct answer? They keep the treat!
Maths in the Kitchen – Baking is great for measuring, fractions, and timing.
3. Focus on Weak Areas
Use this break to strengthen any topics that need a little extra attention. Whether it’s comprehension, mental maths, or verbal reasoning, now’s the time to target those gaps before the summer term rush.
Not sure where to start? Our tutors at ForJo Brilliant Minds offer tailored support to identify and develop these areas.

4. Read, Read, Read!
Reading is one of the best (and easiest) ways to support 11+ success. Encourage daily reading with a mix of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Take it further with:
Comprehension questions after each chapter
Creative writing prompts based on characters or plot twists
Vocabulary journals for tricky or new words
5. Practice Papers – In Moderation
Try a couple of timed practice papers during the break - but don’t overdo it. Focus on accuracy and reviewing mistakes together. Make it feel like a challenge, not a chore!
Final Thought
The Easter holidays are a chance to reset and refocus. With a little structure and a lot of encouragement, your child can make real progress without sacrificing the joy of the season.
From all of us at ForJo Brilliant Minds - have a happy, restful, and egg-cellent Easter!
